This is of most urgent need for attention.
Dear Readers,
This is of most urgent need for attention.
We read and hear every day a big mistake for the future of Kosova that all media and even government organizations make in Kosova: they call Kosova Orthodox Christian Churches Serb Orthodox Churches.
This might be for lack of Western civilization values or because of purely ignorance, therefore aiding Serb extermists and Belgrade to make Kosova independence as difficult as possible (and with as much conditions attached as possible), and giving them another bid for claims in Kosova.
In every Western country and society, churches and all religious institutions and objects are public domain. They are public institutions that everybody has the right to visit, pray, get elected to them and use their services regardless of race, gender, age, national origin, sex, sexual orientation and creed. By law all religious houses and institutions are obliged to allow every citizen to visit, pray, use their rleigious and humanitarian services and participate in their religous activities and get freely elected in the leadership body of a religous house or institution.
As UMNIK is asking for everything to be multiethnic in Kosova, Orthodox Churches also should become multiethnic in composition in Kosova to. They should not be left out of the process and be monoethnic and without the representation of all ethnic groups in Kosova into them.
Therefore, it is wrong to put in the agenda of the Kosova status negotations in Vienna, the so called the "Orthodox Churches as a cultural heritage of the Serb community in Kosova".
Orthodox Churches of Kosova are the public domain of all citizens and inhanbitants of Kosova and not only of a single ethnic group such as Serbs. They should be free houses of prayers without discrimination based on national origin and race.
Albanians should revive their Christian Orthodox roots in Kosova and visit Orthodox Churches all over Kosova and participate in their services and activities and ask for their services to be conducted in Albanian too.
Kosova Orthodox Churches should have Albanians elected at the highest level in the Kosova Orthodox Churches hierarcy. The Head of all Kosova Orthodox Churches should be an Albanian Bishop based on the majority rate of the population.
And if the matter of the Kosova Orthodox Churches is discussed as a cutural heritage protection matter during the Kosova status negotitations in Vienna, it must be discussed as a cultural heritage protection matter of all people in Kosova and not as a Serb heritage protection matter - because it is not as such. Our stupid politicians and media are treating it as such, and UMNIK suprisingly while hammering Kosovar leaders to be multiethnic in every standard they have put for them to fulfill, is saying nothing about the multiethnic nature of Kosova Orthodox Churches and Church community.
One of the UMNIK standards for Kosova should also be for the Orthodox Church of Kosova to become multiethnic and represent proportionally all ethnic communities in Kosova in its leadeship structure, and especially Albanians who are a majority. Therefore the protection of Orthodox Churches in Kosova as a cultural heritage protection matter - should in fact be seen first of all as an Albanian cultural heritage protection matter and not a Serb one.
Please call or write today and tell Kosovar leaders and politicians to fix this problem as soon as possible for the sake of the future of Kosova and all ethnic communities that live there.
